Puppy Classes
Our puppy classes are designed to provide a strong foundation in socialization and basic obedience for puppies aged up to 6 months. We focus on building confidence and good manners through fun and engaging activities.
Obedience Training

Mantrailing
Mantrailing is a thrilling scentwork activity that harnesses your dog’s natural instincts. Join me to learn how to work as a team and develop your dog’s ability to follow specific human scent trails.
Tracking
Teach your dog tracking skills witha specialized workshop. I teach the dogs how to follow a specific track on the ground consisting of a mix of human scent and ground disturbance. Tracking skills can help mantrailing dogs to improve their focus and accuracy.
Scent Detection
Our scent detection classes are designed to engage your dog’s keen sense of smell. Learn how to train your dog to identify and search for a specific scent, a skill useful for both fun and practical purposes.
Open Search
Open Search workshops teach the dog to search for any human scent in a large, open area. Dogs work of lead or on a very long line so are free to move quickly and cover lots of ground.
Puppy Classes: Building Foundations
My puppy classes are crafted to nurture young dogs during their critical developmental stages. I welcome puppies up to 6 months, focusing on essential skills such as socialization, play, basic cues, and positive reinforcement. Obedience Training
My obedience training program at Oracle Dogs is designed to establish a strong foundation of basic manners and life skills. I emphasize the importance of consistency in training to ensure that your dog understands and follows commands reliably. Through positive reinforcement, I can help your dog learn essential cues such as sit, stay, and come, while also addressing any minor behavioral issues. My goal is to create a well-mannered companion that can confidently navigate various environments and situations.
Learning to Find a Specific Person
Mantrailing
Mantrailing is like a game of hide and seek. However, instead of looking for the person the dog uses his or her nose to follow the scent of the person from the starting point to where they have gone. The dogs learn how to follow a specific scent that is unique to that one person and an experienced dog could single out an individual person in a crowd. Dogs use a mixture of ground scent and airscent to achieve their objective. Following completion of an Introduction participants will then have the option to continue on and work through Level 1 (rural), Level 2 (urban) and then on to Advanced Mantrailing.
Learning to Find people
Tracking
Tracking is similar to Mantrailing in that the dog follows a track made by a human. In this instance though they are not following a specific human scent, just a general one in combination with the smell that is released by ground disturbance and the person walks over it. The dogs also learn how to identify articles on or near the trail that have a human scent on them. Tracking is similar to what police dogs might do if someone abandons a car and runs away, throwing the “evidence” away when they are running. A tracking dog could follow them and ‘indicate’ on the articles of evidence.
Learning to Find people
Open Search
In Open Search the dog is trained to search for any human out in a large remote area. This is similar to Search and Rescue dogs that may go up a mountain looking for a lost hiker. They generally use scent in the air (airscenting) to find that person and can cover large distances quickly.
Learning to Find a Specific Odour
Scent Detection
In Scent Detection the dog is trained to search for a particular smell or odour. Operational scent detection dogs may be used by customs to detect food, the military to check for explosives, police to search for drugs and even in conservation. In our case we train the dogs to use their nose to search for a specific scent like red kong or catnip. As the dog becomes more competent the size of the odour source can be reduced to increase the difficulty of the challenge.
